GROSSE POINTE SHORES (WWJ) – A Grosse Pointe Shores councilman who serves as the city’s mayor pro-tem has been charged with an alleged domestic violence assault involving his wife.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said 59-year-old Daniel Thomas Schulte was arraigned Thursday on charges of resisting and obstructing, preventing a crime report and domestic violence. He’s due back in court on Aug. 21 for a preliminary examination.
Police say around 10:22 p.m. on Wednesday, they received a 911 call from the Schultes’ home on Hampton Road. After interviewing his wife and another family member at the scene, police placed Schulte under arrest.
Authorities did not release details of the allegations.
Schulte, who was interviewed by the Detroit Free Press, denied any allegations of domestic violence, saying the charges are “overboard.”
